Looking for a great 10k race in 2017?
Did you know that 10k is the most popular race distance in the UK?* Budding runners like more of a challenge than a 5km race offers, but may not have the time to commit to a half-marathon or more! Choosing the right 10km race to enter can be a challenge in itself with so much choice. Here we have listed (in no particular order) some of the more interesting 10km races we have come across that you might want to try in the first half of 2017.

The Knacker Cracker
Date: 1st January 2017
Whilst the name may make you wince, this is a great race to kick off the new year. Starting at the foot of Box Hill in Surrey, this course takes you along tracks and trails through the beautiful, if not hilly, countryside of the North Downs. With countryside panoramas to enjoy, as well as a view over Denbies Vineyard (www.denbies.co.uk) which is a great place in which to unwind after the run!
Run Richmond Park 10k Race
Date: 28th January 2017
Look out for deer! This race takes place in London’s biggest Royal Park and offers some great track and cross-country running. The deer roam free in the park so keep your eyes open on the way around.
The Mighty Deer Stalker
Date: 11th March 2017
The Mighty Deerstalker takes place just over the Scottish border about 1.5miles from Innerleithen. This is billed as one of the hardest 10ks going, in part due to the fact that it takes place at night (headtorch required!), but mainly because it includes crossing rivers, running through forests and over the odd mountain or two. After completing the course you get to enjoy a well deserved party in a warm tent with music and food to boot! Ticket price includes party entry. Camping is also available.
The Tough 10k Run – Greenwich
Date: 25th March 2017
The route takes you around the beautiful setting of Greenwich Park in London. There is the option of running 5k if 10k is too much.
Date: 22nd & 23rd April 2017
As the name suggests, this run passes the Queen’s official residence in Scotland and is a mix of on and off-road running. With a large hill starting at around the 3km mark, you are soon rewarded with a picturesque downhill section leading to a tarmac surface to end the run.
Silverstone Grand Prix 10km
Date: May 2017 (date tbc at the time of writing)
No cars allowed in this race! In its 34th year in 2017, this race takes place on the Bridge Circuit, starting on the main grid and ending in the pit lane. A great race for those with a love of cars or who are looking for a unique venue to run at!
BUPA London 10,000
Date: 29th May 2017

The Herts 10k Challenge
Date: October 2017 (date tbc at the time of writing)
It’s our local 10k event and the Feeling Outdoorsy team is taking part this year! The route takes you through some of Hertfordshire’s beautiful countryside and the race is the main fundraising event for Rennie Grove Hospice Care.
