These delicious burgers are bursting with flavour and are a healthier alternative to the traditional burger. They are very simple to make and hold together well on the barbie.
What you'll need
- 500g turkey mince
- 50g feta cheese
- 150g spinach
- 1 egg
- 1 spring onoin
- 1 clove of garlic
- 2 tablespoons of flour
- Salt & pepper to taste
Cook the spinach in boiling water for 2 minutes and allow to cool.
In a large bowl, combine the turkey mince, crushed garlic, finely chopped spring onion and egg. Using your hands for this is most effective!
Add the cooked spinach and crumbled feta cheese and continue to mix
Add the flour to absorb some of the juices, and salt and pepper, and continue to mix
Put the bowl in the fridge for 30 mins to allow the ingredients to bind, which makes forming the burgers easier.
Once chilled remove from the fridge and if you don't have a burger mold, flatten the mixtue on a sheet of grease-proof paper to about 1 inch think and use an upturned ramekin or a mug to press out the the burgers.
Cook on a hot BBQ for around 4-5mins per side (depending on the size). Check for an even colour inside the burger and that the centre is piping hot.
Serve immediately with lettuce, tomato and a burger bun!
